Why Hemp?

Hemp is a complete plant-protein that is completely digestible in the hind gut and free of phytoestrogens. Hemp does not have to be heat-treated for digestibility, making it a less processed and more stable product. It does not contain trypsin inhibitors, an enzyme inhibitor which can cause gastric upset and reduces the digestion of protein.

Hemp Seed Oil is the only plant-based oil available for horses that contains the ideal ratio of Omegas and GLA (gamma linolenic acid). Hemp has one of the lowest levels of unsaturated fat and highest levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids of any vegetable oil. High in digestible protein, hemp contains all ten of the essential amino acids.

More Info on GLA

  • Not normally found in edible plants making Hemp the only option
  • Powerful anti-inflammatory benefits that goes beyond omega 3s

Compared to Other Food-Sources

  • More stable and easier to digest than flax
  • Flax and soy can both mimic estrogen effects in the body
  • While fish oil has high levels of Omega 3s, it is not a vegetarian source.
  • Soy has an inverted Omega 6:3 ratio
  • Soy must be heated to get rid of trypsin inhibitors and then requires added preservatives to be shelf-stable.
  • Hemp Seeds contain 50% more protein than chia or flax seeds, ounce for ounce
